Constraining new solar and wind resources could cost the U.S. more than $120 billion over a seven-year period, according to a major new CEBA study.
Here are the Texas-specific findings:
- Restrictions could force Texans in ERCOT to pay up to 22% more for electricity.
- Economywide, residential and commercial/industrial customers in ERCOT could pay $3 billion more per year for power.
- ERCOT could see the greatest percentage increase among the modeled regions.
All told, constraints on new solar and wind could cost American households more than $81 billion in electricity and natural gas costs over the seven-year period.
